The project

As part of the redevelopment of Centre Court East Wing, Capita Symonds undertook a review of the existing drainage and advised the AELTCC on improvements to the networks across the Centre Court Site.

Several drainage studies were prepared for the stadium ‘bowl’ in particular, resulting in the construction of a secondary surface water outlet. New drainage systems were designed for the East Wing Debentures Building, Gatehouses 4 and foul surface water networks externally.

Further works commenced with the improvement and upgrade of walkways court surrounds to external courts 4 to 11. The most significant construction element was the new Court 2 Stadium with approximately 5,000 seat capacity. This stadium was sunk into the ground (court level approximately 3m lower than surrounding Ground Levels) which required a pumping solution for both foul water and surface water. This stage also incorporated the rebuild of the Groundsmans Facilities and a new court 3 stadium (approximately 2,000 seats) with facilities building.

Capita Symonds was responsible for the design of all below ground drainage for the aspects of work listed above. We were also responsible for the co-ordination of services externally around the new court 2 stadium.
