The project
Capita Symonds was appointed by
Firmount to provide building engineering design services for the
proposed refurbishment and re-development of the existing ILAC
Shopping Centre, Dublin.
Works included the refurbishment of existing
mall areas, the creation of new retail and restaurant spaces and
re-planning/extension of existing tenant accommodation.
The scope and extent of building services
design works included major site survey activities, re-planning and
reinforcement of Statutory Authority Supplies, the replacement and
upgrading of existing mechanical and electrical services, including
all associated fire, control and security systems.
Design philosophies have maximised the
opportunity to utilise natural ventilation solutions to serve mall
areas, resulting in spatial and capital/ whole life cost
benefits.
Acoustic analysis was also undertaking using
EASE V4.1 software to assess reverberation times which were used to
develop the mall design concepts and ensure effective performance
of the public address system.
A phased program of works was developed to
maintain malls in operation whilst works were undertaken, Capita
Symonds provided the services of a Resident Engineer to ensure
compliance and assist with site co-ordination.
