The project
The aim of the project was to transform and gain full use of a
water logged clay subbase playing field within the curtilage of the
school, to enhance the children`s movement control and
co-ordination and create a living learning space, developing an
innovative, creative, sustainable, eco-aware school play area.
Capita Symonds provided the Project Management, Design, Cost
Management and CDM services on this £235k proposed Multi use games
area.
The project involved:
- Site strip of the existing field
- Installation of as new drainage system to remove all surface
water to a new soak away
- Installation of a polymeric Multi use game area incorporating 2
number 5-a-side pitches and goal storage container
- Introduction of an Activity Trail containing several innovative
pieces of kit to stimulate a child’s movement, control and
co-ordination
- Develop and introduce a unique Pirate ship play area to create
a living outdoor learning space
The scheme was partly funded through the LEA budget and partly
through the school devolved capital budget. The contract was
completed on time and within budget.
