Our vision and values

As a diverse and expanding business we have a huge amount to be proud of and many, many success stories to tell.

Our annual ‘Success Awards’, launched in 2006, celebrate our culture of successful people, projects and performance. We invite all our staff to submit case studies in October every year to recognise and celebrate those individuals and teams that are inspirational examples of our values in action, delivering real, mutual success to clients and Capita Symonds.

Below are our winners and case studies from the five years of the Awards:

successful people

Andrew Burrows, East Grinstead "Andrew’s nomination clearly showed how vital his leadership and energy was to the successful delivery of a major civils project and how he has embodied our values throughout. Excellent client feedback, creativity and innovation, award recognition for the project, and the respect of his design team make Andrew a worthy winner of our Successful People category.”

successful projects

ASAP & One Guildhall Square Regeneration, Southampton: "An excellent example of why Capita Symonds is a market leader in local authority strategic partnering. This project saw five Capita Symonds offices – and numerous disciplines - working closely together to deliver an ambitious design and accommodation project. An excellent (ongoing) example of what Capita Symonds brings to the public sector efficiency agenda and a valuable case study for the future. The project has made a positive impact already – on both its occupants and the wider community - and promises to be the catalyst for future regeneration for our Council partners."

successful performance

Cumbria Floods response: "Our teams across Cumbria showed exceptional commitment and professionalism in responding to a major UK flooding event, at a time when many of their own homes and communities may have been at risk. Working tirelessly throughout the weekend of the floods, the intensive operations in the immediate aftermath, and the remedial work that followed, our Cumbria staff played a vital role in bringing vital infrastructure back into service. There were a number of nominations relating to the Cumbria floods – notably those for Kenny Brooks and the Workington Bridge project team – but it is only fitting that the commitment, dedication and efforts of a large number of Capita Symonds people in Cumbria receive our Successful Performance accolade.”

successful people

Jon Baber, East Grinstead: "Energy, enthusiasm and commitment backed by unrivalled technical knowledge; this is what the Success Awards are all about. Jon embodies our values and leads by example; he wins work, he is a lateral-thinking designer, he can lead a team, he represents the UK on industry committees and he mentors our next generation of engineers. An outstanding candidate."

successful projects

HQ Parkway Edge, Sheffield: "This project seemed to bring together the best of everything 'Capita'. The judges were impressed with how the project was created; the initial team was clearly innovative and proactive in their approach to this project coming to fruition. A classic example of how a project can be successfully conceived and delivered to the mutual benefit of all parties. Clearly some excellent technical skills coupled with high quality management and cost control enabled this project to be delivered within the required constraints."

successful performance

Business Transformation & Innovation (BT&I) team, London: "An unanimous decision. What can you say - £350k profit…for little or no extra work…from the taxman. Not only do we have a new business stream, it is one that positively encourages us all to complete a bit of Research & Development. We certainly need to be innovative to stay ahead of the competition, particularly in these challenging times. All should be encouraged to speak with the Business Transformation & Innovation team."

successful people

John Wormald, Regional Director, Bristol: “John’s submission clearly illustrated his significant and positive impact on the Merchants’ Academy project and team. Turning a struggling project around is always a positive success - adding a client quoting ‘10 out of 10’ to that is a major achievement for John and his team.”

successful projects

Limerick Tunnel, Ireland: “A high profile civil engineering project - highly technical, large scale, fast-track and with a high local impact. The way a multidisciplinary Capita Symonds team has successfully delivered its international expertise in a highly organised and professional manner means that the project will be a major asset for our profile.”

Architecture (Education) team, Cardiff: Nottingham BSF: “A clear winner in this category for the team's committed, engaging and responsive approach to the client's BSF programme. The success was built around the team’s ability to listen and be responsive during the designated bidder stage – a contribution that has had important spin-offs for our business as a whole.”

Redevco, Oxford Street, London: The Redevco project team (Graeme Steele, Kevin Larkin, and Rhys Allen) has excelled in the management and delivery of a complex project through their proactive and positive approach which resulted in significant benefits for the client.
