Capita Symonds has been working in
Northern Ireland since 1991 and currently comprises a team of 14
project managers, making it the largest project management
consultancy in the province.
For the last 12 years we have had an
established partnering arrangement Northern Ireland Water for the
provision of project management and design services for a wide
range of water network projects. We have been responsible for over
£110m of capital works, including over 150km of trunk mains ranging
up to 900mm, as well as pumping stations and controls to improve
interconnectivity in the water system.
We are also undertaking a £50m programme of
service reservoir construction across over 20 sites ranging from
0.4 to 20 mega-litres in size. Recently completed projects include
Castor Bay to Dungannon (£20m); Belfast Cross Town Main, North Down
Trunk Main (£16m); Valley Distribution Improvements (£15m); and
Kilkeel Annalong Water Supply (£4m).
In addition we are retained on a number other
public sector frameworks and regularly undertake work on behalf of
local district councils.
We have worked, or are working, on a number of
other local projects including:
- Downe Hospital:The £64m New
Downe Hospital was designed by Capita Symonds around a concept
called ‘Healing by Design’ which takes hospital design away from
being a purely clinically functional layout and incorporates an
understanding of the positive effects nature and environment can
have on improving patient care.
- Royal Victoria Hospital Critical Care
Centre:The Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) provides over a
fifth of the acute beds in Northern Ireland and treats half a
million patients a year. As part of an on going redevelopment
programme for the hospital, the £143m Critical Care Centre project
will provide a new trauma centre that will serve the whole of
Northern Ireland.
- Enniskillen Hospital: The
£270m hospital is located on a 52 acre greenfield site at Wolf
Lough to the North of Enniskillen. The 70,000sqm hospital will be
the first in Northern Ireland with 100% single bed, en-suite rooms
and there will be more than 300 beds.
- WRAP Advocacy: Capita
Symonds is providing ‘advocacy’ advice for public sector clients in
Northern Ireland on behalf of WRAP (Waste and Resources Action
Programme), a government funded organisation tasked with improving
waste management and increasing recycling.
