London

Capita Symonds employs nearly 1,000 people across the capital. Our key projects in the city include:

  • Crossrail: Capita Symonds is designing three of the four portals on the £14.5bn Crossrail scheme – Royal Oak, North Woolwich and Plumstead. We are also providing multidisciplinary services on Crossrail’s new Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy (TUCA) in east London.
  • Wimbledon: With a roof weighing 3000 tonnes and capactiy for 15,000 fervent tennis fans, Wimbledon’s redeveloped Centre Court has propelled the home of tennis into the modern age. Capita Symonds provided structural engineering services on the scheme which involved the demolition and re-construction of the East Wing together with the provision of an additional six rows of seating around the East, North and West wings.
  • Wembley: Capita Symonds provided specialist project management services on this iconic project - a cauldron of 90,000 screaming fans that took £798m and nearly seven years to design and build.
  • Paddington Bridge: Described as a ‘fantastic feat of engineering’, the award-winning Paddington Bridge project involved the replacement of a major road bridge in central London to improve traffic access to and from Paddington Station. The scheme - part of the wider regeneration of the Paddington area - was a complex engineering feat involving the demolition of existing bridge structures, and the construction of new structures, over the live railway lines that serve one of London’s largest stations.
  • Westminster City Academy: Capita Symonds provided construction project management services on the development of the £23m Westminster City Academy in west London.
  • Evelyn Grace Academy: Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and project managed by Capita Symonds on behalf of client ARK Schools, the Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton presents itself as an open, transparent and welcoming addition to the community’s local urban regeneration process.
  • Eversheds HQ: Capita Symonds project managed the construction of Eversheds’ multi-million pound global headquarters in the City of London which has been hailed as one of the most sustainable corporate buildings in the UK.
  • Drain London: Capita Symonds is programme managing the specification, procurement and delivery of Surface Water Management Plans (SWMP) across all 33 London Boroughs on behalf of the Drain London Forum. The project aims to develop cost effective surface water management plans that will make a real difference to any communities at risk from flooding.
